GVCA Helps Spark the Arts

Updated: Apr 22

The cultural landscape at MCH continues to grow, thanks to the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts (GVCA) and two separate grants supporting live musical performances and the visual arts for MCH residents.

Earlier this year, the MCH Auxiliary launched a Music Enrichment Program, made possible through GVCA funding. This initiative, led by Kevin Nitsch and Bonnie Choi, music faculty at Nazareth University, brings musicians into the Hope 2 and Faith 2 Units for monthly live performances. The program has already had a notable impact, offering residents moments of joy, connection, and artistic inspiration.

Meanwhile, a Teaching Artist’s Grant awarded to visual artist Matthew Vanderlee will bring a series of collage workshops to MCH residents. Vanderlee will collaborate with a variety of local artists to facilitate these sessions, offering residents an opportunity to further explore creativity and self-expression through hands-on work.

These initiatives, as well as regularly scheduled concerts, live performances, and more, underscore MCH’s commitment to fostering a vibrant, enriching environment for its residents.
